Pam Pam is a spiritual song. Musically, it is sparse and based on few elements, which rhythmically feature a nyabinghi groove played by Larry McDonald (Gil Scott-Heron, The Skatalites) on percussions. A fog of delay and reverb fills the spaces left by the groove.

The song features artist Soom T, a Scottish MC of Indian descent, who wrote and sang the second verse and accompanies Emi - Mahout's vocalist - in the refrain, where a repeated phrase, which almost turns into a mantra, expresses the inmost meaning of the song. The main theme of Pam Pam is the struggle between Good and Evil, life and death. It is mainly about duppies, the evil spirits of Jamaican animist culture.

Evil exists, learning how to face it is the only way to fight it and keep it at bay. It is only through awareness, acceptance, and through the conscious choice of love as a pathway to embark on - intended as a process of medicating one’s soul, that good can prevail over evil (intended as everyone’s undeniable dark side). The song has no presumption of treating the above as a universal issue, but purely as a very personal and inner matter of the author.

"Love is the only way, to keep the devil out of my way, so revel in what I say, 'cause love is the only way" means that there is a possibility to keep evil out of one's life, and Love is the only way to do that.
